Celtic Illusion – Australia/NZ Tour 2024

We were thrilled to once again supply a touring audio and show control network package for Base Entertainment’s Celtic Illusion, on its most ambitious tour yet. The show spent five months on the road, covering the far corners of Australia, and across the Tasman into some of the beautiful old opera houses of New Zealand.

We supplied a turn-key solution with Apple Mac Mini playback, via RME MADI/USB conversion and into a Dante network via DirectOut Technology’s new EXBOX.MD. Dante connected seamless redundant-failover audio to a Midas M32R, and two instances of QLab directed the show via OSC, providing playback as well as sequence control of the audio system and lighting rig.

Working with some amazing freelance audio operators including Hugh Hanily, Jesse Sewell and Nick Cossart, we refined the system into a completely flyable tour package, including IEMs and DPA microphones for the musicians, the ever important show comms, and stage spot-mics to pick up the taps and vocal expulsions of the cast.

As usual it was a pleasure working with Base Entertainment’s Production Manager turned General Manager Xavier Dannock, working within the show’s budget to deliver extraordinary sound experiences. While Celtic Illusion takes a brief hiatus, we eagerly anticipate our next collaborative projects in the upcoming months.
